Mal-One

Mal-One

Mal-One grew up in the same London neighbourhood as future Sex Pistols’ Steve Jones and Paul Cook. In fact, he was first introduced to Steve Jones when he was 7 years old after Jones stole his bike.

The same area of Hammersmith and Shepherds Bush was also a hotbed for the forthcoming Punk scene. Being immersed in the scene from an early age has given Mal-One a great front-line knowledge of the movement and access to one of the biggest Punk memorabilia collections.

These influences have led to the creation of a mixed media exhibition of collages and prints put together to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Punk Rock movement. It features works that honour the bands that created what we now recognise as the last great rebellion: the Punk movement. Mal-One’s works bring together the iconography of the Punk zeitgeist; that moment when music and fashion youth culture collided for the first and last time.
