Record Store Day 2020 (old)

SATURDAY 18TH APRIL 2020

What is Record Store Day?

Record Store Day is a global, annual event organised in the UK by ERA (the Entertainment Retailers Association), featuring over 200 officially approved independent UK record shops and a variety of UK record labels and music companies.

Special and often highly limited vinyl records are for sale exclusively on the day and many shops and cities also host musical performances and other celebratory events to mark the occasion.

What will be released on Record Store Day?

A full list of RSD releases is available from recordstoreday.co.uk

Printed versions of the list and the list as also featured in the latest issue of Long Live Vinyl magazine will both be available in Vinyl Guru.

When is Record Store Day?

This year’s Record Store Day will be Saturday 18th April 2020.

We will open early at 8 a.m. to deal exclusively with RSD orders. We expect to be extremely busy during this time and advise arriving as early as possible for the best chance to secure your order, as in previous years queues have started from 4 a.m.!

As usual, from 11 a.m. - 6 p.m. the rest of the shop will be opened for all other orders and to browse our thousands of new and second hand records.

How will I order RSD releases?

At Vinyl Guru, we ask customers to mark their RSD orders on our printed RSD order lists. This allows us to deal with RSD orders as quickly, efficiently and effectively as possible, and minimises queues.

Our printed RSD order lists are updated regularly throughout the day as releases sell out, and a member of staff with instant access to our real-time online RSD stock list will be dedicated to keeping queueing customers informed of which releases are still available from us and which have sold out.

If we do sell out of the RSD release you were looking for, don't worry, we often get more stock the following week.

Can I pre-order/reserve RSD releases?

No, due to the RSD code of conduct, RSD releases are restricted from pre-orders/reservations and must be sold on a first-come-first-served basis on Record Store Day.

HOWEVER, please do let us know which releases you are looking to purchase and we will try to make sure we order enough stock for everyone, as with hundreds of RSD releases it is almost impossible for one shop to carry every title!

Can I buy RSD releases online?

Yes, but due to the RSD code of conduct, RSD releases are restricted to in-store sales only for up to and including one week after Record Store Day.

Any remaining RSD stock will be officially available to purchase online from official RSD shops from Saturday 25th April 2020.

You may see RSD releases for sale online from unofficial sources at inflated prices before this date, but we strongly recommend waiting for official online sales for a better chance at paying original retail prices.
